UCLA Football: 3 potential post-spring 2021 transfer targets
Another familiar Pac-12 face, Jay Toia was a surprising USC transfer a few weeks ago. He didn’t play a single game with the Trojans after signing to their 2021 class and decided to hit the portal after spring ball.
He recently posted a “short list” of his on Twitter and UCLA was included along with Michigan, Miami, and Utah. He did list those schools specifically while stating they were “among others” but the fact that he did state UCLA was in the running bodes well for Chip Kelly and Co. who could use some beef on that defensive line.
Toia was one of the top recruits in the 2021 class, ranking No. 186 overall and he was the 26th-best defensive lineman, according to the composite. The California-native committed to USC and then enrolled early, only to hit the portal months later.
Kelly needs to make Toia a priority as he’s already taking visits and Michigan is looking good right now. The Bruins have the draw of playing close to home and early playing time as well so this move would make plenty of sense.
