2. Scott Frost is fired at Nebraska

Scott Frost and the Huskers parting ways after this season is an indictment of both Nebraska and Frost. It is an indictment on Nebraska for believing they can be what they were under Tom Osborne and Frost for believing he’s the coach that could return them to their glory days.

The primary reason Frost gets the boot is the roster is not very talented. Their most explosive player, WanDale Robinson, decided to transfer and end his college career in Kentucky. Before Robinson’s transfer, their best receiver J.D. Spielman transferred. Luke McCaffery also transferred.

There has been little player development since Frost took the helm. As talented as both Robinson and Spielman never took leaps forward in their development under Frost. Quarterback Adrian Martinez was supposed to be the player that turned the program.

Martinez has had issues with health and keeping his job. The defense is still bad. They can compete against bad offenses in the Big Ten West but struggle against the better teams in the conference.

Recruiting has been marginal at best, and players continue to leave the program. The Huskers missed on some recruits and dismissed a couple of players from the team. Looking at the schedule, Fordham and Buffalo are their only two lock wins (Buffalo will not be easy).
