Career Stats: 10,727 passing yards, 86 passing touchdowns, 37 interceptions, 2,049 rushing yards, 27 rushing touchdowns

The tradition has become much more common in college football athletes to find a home at quarterback. The most successful example of this transition comes into the form of Trevone Boykin.

Boykin started early in his career, getting his first start in his fourth career game against Iowa State. He had a pedestrian season, but showed flashes of potential, with his running ability alongside his back-to-back four-touchdown performances.

A 94-yard touchdown pass to Josh Boyce, set up a road win over West Virginia. Even with his freshman year performance, Pachall returned and was a battle for the starting job throughout the year.

The breakout season was 2014 for not only TCU but for Boykin. The Horned Frogs had their best season, since 2010 when TCU capped off an undefeated season with a win over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.

It was also Boykin’s breakout season with 3,901 passing yards to go along with 707 on the ground. His electric ability to evade and create massive plays. In the Horned Frogs’ third season in the Big 12, they captured a shared conference championship with Baylor.

Boykin’s Horned Frogs were in the middle of a playoff discussion, where they were left out of the playoff, after blowing out Iowa State the week before. He would throw three touchdowns as TCU dismantled Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.

TCU started the season at No. 2 in the country and Boykin was a household name as well as a preseason Heisman candidate. Epic performances, including a blowout win over Texas, included a come-from-behind win at Kansas State and a dominant win over No. 23 West Virginia.

Boone Pickens was the lone stadium that could contain Boykin, while he threw four interceptions and the Horned Frogs suffered their first loss of the season.

Two weeks later, Boykin did not play against Oklahoma, which was for first place in the Big 12. The Horned Frogs fell, 30-29.

Boykin became a legend in TCU history and is among one of the most talked-about players when Baylor and TCU were at the top of the league.
