Penn State Football: 5 must-land recruits for Nittany Lions in 2022
4-star RB Nicholas Singleton
The most successful seasons of the James Franklin era at Penn State came when the Nittany Lions had Saquan Barkley. And while there isn’t anyone like that on this list, four-star running back Nicholas Singleton would still be a massive addition to the 2022 class.
It’s been three years since Penn State football was able to sign a top-100 running back and at 6-foot, 210 pounds, the back out of Reading, Pennslyvania is ranked 99th overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s ranked even higher, 43rd overall in the 247 specific rankings for 2022.
Singleton is also the second-ranked player in the state and missing on him would be a huge blow. Here’s what Gabe Brooks of 247 sports wrote about him:
"“Entering senior season, looks like one of the nation’s top running backs in the 2022 recruiting class. Projects to the high-major level with long-term early-round NFL Draft potential.”"
His pro comparison is that of that Nick Chubb. Alabama, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin are the other contenders. Notre Dame will get an official visit this weekend, with Alabama to follow.
Singleton does have a crystal ball projection to Penn State, but the Nittany Lions will need to beat out some heavy hitters for what could be their top overall target in 2022.
