As I was skimming through my haul of annual college football preview magazines, one thing immediately stood out to me when I got to USC football’s page: that receiving corps is scary.

Everyone knows that the Trojans have one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Kedon Slovis and a defense loaded with talent, but what about that receiving corps?

Amon-Ra St. Brown and Tyler Vaughns are gone, so how good could the Trojans wide outs really be?

Returning is Drake London who has looked like a player on the verge of a massive breakout over the past two seasons and the electric KD Nixon comes in from Colorado after catching 104 career passes and seven touchdowns with the Buffaloes. Add in former five-star wide out Bru McCoy who has yet to really get going and a talented two-deep with former top-50 prospects Gary Bryant Jr. and Kyle Ford and you have an uber-talented group.

This could be the most purely-talented group of receivers in the Pac-12 (rivaling Oregon) and even the country.

Huge comparison for one USC football receiver

According to Nick Kosko of 247Sports, Clay Helton was speaking highly of London recently and made a comparison to Mike Evans. Yes, three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Mike Evans. Not a bad comparison for London after two solid seasons with USC.

Helton went on to say he’s built in the same mold as Evans where he can use his big body and make plays that you wouldn’t expect from a 6-5 target. He has that ‘wow’ factor.

If London can live up to those lofty comparisons and McCoy and Ford realize their potential along with the explosiveness of Nixon and Bryant Jr., this receiving corps is going to make sure Slovis puts up some huge numbers; I’m talking Mac Jones in 2020-type numbers.
