The class of the Group of Five has just as much flash off the field as they do on and here are the best helmets in the Mountain West and AAC.

Let’s be honest here: The Mountain West and American Athletic Conferences are the two best non-power conferences in college football. The conferences are loaded with superpowers in the Group of Five world as well as some upstarts in San Jose State and SMU who appear to be on the brink of becoming one of those powers.

We’ll get to see two of those powers face off on September 2 when Boise State travels to UCF for the first meeting in program history. It’ll be the original BCS Buster against a team that has overtaken them as the team to beat among Group of Five teams.

Not only will it be a great game to watch from a football perspective, but from an ascetic perspective as well. Both programs, as well as their respective conference mates, have some great looks that can compare to anyone in the country.

Just as a reminder, we’re using NationalChamps.net’s Helmet Project as a reference. Follow along there http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/index.htm as well so you can choose your favorites as well. We start out west.
