SWAC Football: Former Ole Miss DB transfers to Alabama A&M
Alabama A&M of the SWAC Football conference landed a potential impact player in the transfer portal from the SEC.
In pursuit of a second straight SWAC football championship, the Alabama A&M Bulldogs have made a key addition to their defense in former Ole Miss defensive back Breon Dixon.
Breon Dixon’s college journey has been an eventful one that has seen him play for four different schools before committing to join the Alabama A&M Bulldogs.
Breon Dixon was highly recruited coming out of Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He began to receive offers from big-name schools as early as his freshman year in high school.
These schools included Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Georgia, Auburn, USC, Michigan, and Maryland.

Ultimately, Breon Dixon committed to become a member of the Ole Miss Rebels but wouldn’t stick around very long. He played just six games, mostly on special teams, where he finished with just five total tackles.
Breon Dixon then transferred to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but his time with the Cornhuskers was brief. He played just four games with the team only recording a single tackle on kickoff coverage.
Dixon had his best tenure with Iowa Western where he played more defensive snaps in six games. He recorded 17 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and a sack. However, that was not enough to keep him with the team as he would then transfer to Missouri State.
He played in three games with Missouri State opting not to return for the team’s spring schedule.
While Breon Dixon will be joining an Alabama A&M team more known for their offensive talent, they were solid on the defensive end. They allowed the third-lowest scoring total, second-lowest pass efficiency rating, and tied for the second-most interceptions.
There are, however, areas where the Alabama A&M needs improvement that Breon Dixon could potentially help. Most notably, the Bulldogs allowed the Jackson State Tigers to score 43 points and allowed 33 points to UAPB in the SWAC championship game.
