Notre Dame lost a veteran quarterback who helped lead the program to two playoff appearances in three seasons and it’s not going to be easy to replace Ian Book.

Tyler Buchner is going to do his best.

While he hasn’t won the job yet, if I were a betting man, I’d put my money on the incoming freshman and former blue-chip recruit becoming QB1 over Wisconsin transfer Jack Coan. The talent is there and Coan is limited with his arm and athleticism.

Buchner was one of the top quarterback recruits in the 2021 class and he enrolled early and impressed fans this spring. His arm was fantastic in the spring game as he was slinging the ball all over the field.

Coan may be the favorite to start for the Irish this fall, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Buchner took over after a couple of games and never looked back. This kid has massive breakout potential.

Buy some Buchner stock immediately.
