Opportunity for EMU to go bowling again

Eastern Michigan is used to playing in tough games against power-five opponents, but the only team that should overwhelm the Eagles in the non-conference is Wisconsin. Eastern Michigan football is hoping to go bowling and there are some winnable games and enough tossups to make that is a realistic possibility.

  • Game 1: Saint Francis (W)- This should be the easiest game on the schedule for the Eagles and they should win comfortably.
  • Game 2: At Wisconsin (L)- After the easiest game comes the hardest one and EMU stands no chance here
  • Game 3: At UMass (W)- I wrote about UMass and their outlook for the season and I think EMU should get a win here.
  • Game 4: Texas State (W)- Texas State has a solid offense, but their defense is struggling and I think Preston Hutchinson will take advantage of that.
  • Game 5: At Northern Illinois (L): This is one of those games that could go either way, but the edge goes to the Huskies at home in the MAC opener for the Eagles.
  • Game 6: Miami (OH) (W)- This won’t be an easy win, but I trust the Eagles offense in this spot
  • Game 7: Ball State (L): I think Ball State is the favorite in the MAC and they will be too much for EMU.
  • Game 8: At Bowling Green (W)- Bowling Green is a terrible team and EMU should win this one easily.
  • Game 9: At Toledo (L)- Toledo is a tough place to play and I don’t think Eastern Michigan can go on the road and win there.
  • Game 10: Ohio (L)- Another game that is a tossup, I will give the edge to Frank Solich and the Bobcats.
  • Game 11: Western Michigan (L)- Tim Lester has kept it going at WMU after PJ Fleck’s departure and the Broncos will bet the win here.
  • Game 12: At Central Michigan (L)- I expect a bounce-back season from Central Michigan and the Eagles will come up just short of a bowl game.

Final Record: 5-7 (2-6 MAC)

This could easily be a seven or eight-win team, as the games against Wisconsin, Ball State, Central Michigan, and Toledo are the only games I see EMU having no shot in. It is hard to trust their defense however in certain games and that is why I cant predict a better season,
