This weekend is going to produce some fireworks in college football recruiting, but Alabama football stole the show early on Friday.

With a number of key commitments slated to take place this weekend, it was already known that there would be some significant recruiting news.

However, one commitment that could prove to be the most significant of the weekend went down on Friday as Alabama football landed four-star offensive Tyler Booker.

Booker is ranked 39th overall in the 2022 recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and the one-time, five-star recruit is ranked fifth at offensive tackle, standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 325 pounds.

Landing Booker is huge for Alabama football, which moves up to sixth overall in the 2022 team rankings according to 247 sports by getting a commitment that many rivals wanted including Florida football, Ohio State, Georgia, and Oregon.

Booker, who is out of IMG Academy was a clear priority for the Gators, who had to watch one of their top priorities commit to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

The offensive tackle is the 5th-best prospect committed in Alabama football’s 2022 class right now, as well as the seventh ranked in the top 100 of the 247 sports composite rankings.

So far, 10 of Alabama’s 11 commitments are rated as four-star recruits or better and one of those commitments is five-star quarterback Ty Simpson.

Florida football wanted Booker badly, which makes getting him even sweeter for Alabama which is also batting the Gators for five-star defensive tackle Walter Nolen.

Booker’s addition is the start of what should be an exciting weekend in recruiting. Gunnar Givens, the fourth-ranked interior lineman of 2022 also committed on Friday, pledging to Virginia Tech, while some other decisions will be announced this weekend.

Five-star safety Keon Sabb will be announcing on Saturday between Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Texas A&M, and LSU. Malachi Nelson, one of the top quarterbacks in 2023 is also expected to announce for Oklahoma, even though Alabama, USC, Arizona, and Arizona State are also in the mix.

Nolen could be the next big prize for Alabama and one thing that is true is that if you play in the trenches on either side of the ball, Bama is the place for you.

Booker told 247 sports why he chose the Tide:

"“Their commitment to greatness from top to bottom,” Booker said of why Alabama. “From the training staff to the nutritionist to the coaching staff, everybody is committed to excellence, everybody is committed to greatness.”"

Alabama is committed to greatness and produces it. So who wouldn’t want to go there, which is why that No. 6 ranking in the 2022 class, should eventually move up.
