Jimbo Fisher is one of the best recruiters in the country but the Texas A&M football coach still needs to prove that he can win the big game in the SEC.

Winning a national title at Florida State, Texas A&M fans expected the same type of success in College Station, but he hasn’t won a conference title yet or made the playoff — though he was dangerously close in 2020.

Recruiting well is the first step and the Aggies are bringing in top classes every year. Right now, they have the No. 13 class in 2022 with plenty of room to move up.

There are some big names on the board who could be close to committing to Texas A&M.

Which Aggies could be the next to commit in the 2022 class?

When a program like Stanford offers you, there’s a good chance that you’re a special student athlete. David Shaw is very selective with his offers. You have to be a great student and solid football player because while Stanford upholds high academic standards for its athletes, it also has a perennial contender in the Pac-12.

So that’s what Texas A&M has to battle with in this recruitment.

The Cardinal and Aggies seem to be the two favorites to land four-star defensive lineman Ernest Cooper IV and he recently received a crystal ball prediction to Texas A&M from an insider and that’s big because he only has two projections and the other came from a year ago.

Cooper IV took three official visits last month to Ohio State, Stanford, and Texas A&M and the latter two are entering into a dogfight for his services.

I could see him committing in the near future and Texas A&M would be my pick for the nation’s No. 152 overall recruit.
