How will Georgia State football fare in 2021?

As good as I think Georgia State’s potential is in 2021, their schedule is one of the toughest in the Sun Belt. The Panthers are more than capable of pulling some upsets this season though.

  • Game 1: Army (W) — This is a true toss-up game, but I think the Panthers’ offense can outscore Army.
  • Game 2: at North Carolina (L) — The Tarheels are going to be a playoff darkhorse this season and will be a tough out for the Panthers.
  • Game 3: Charlotte (W)- Charlotte is improving, but I think the Panthers win big here.
  • Game 4: at Auburn (L) — The Tigers are going to be an interesting team to watch in 2021 and they should win this one comfortably.
  • Game 5: Appalachian State (L) — Georgia State almost pulled the upset a year ago, but I think they fall short yet again.
  • Game 6: at Louisiana Monroe (W) — ULM is a rebuilding program and this game won’t be close at all.
  • Game 7: Texas State (W) — Another Sun Belt opponent that Georgia State will overwhelm with their offense.
  • Game 8: at Georgia Southern (W) — Statesboro is a tough place to play, but I think the Panthers get a win in an underrated rivalry game.
  • Game 9: at Louisiana (L) — Louisiana is in for a great season and they are a more complete team than the Panthers.
  • Game 10: at Coastal Carolina (L) — Playing the top two teams in the conference on the road in back-to-back weeks is really tough.
  • Game 11: Arkansas State (W) — Butch Jones is coaching Arkansas State now, but they are a little bit away from competing.
  • Game 12: Troy (L) — Another toss-up game that will be tough for the Panthers to win.

Final record: 6-6, 5-3 Sun Belt

It is going to be an uphill battle for the Panthers to make a bowl game due to their schedule, but they are going to be an incredibly tough team to play each week due to their explosive offense. It would not surprise me to see Georgia State pull a big upset this season.
