Opportunity exists for Hawaii Football to get back to the postseason

Hawaii is going to be tasked with facing two PAC-12 teams as part of its non-conference schedule and those games are going to be obstacles to getting back to a bowl game. Playing in the west division in the MWC, the games that are going to be key are the road trip to Nevada and the home game vs San Jose State

  • Game 1: At UCLA (L)- UCLA is going to be a contender for the south division title in the PAC-12 and will be winning this game.
  • Game 2: Portland State (W)- Should be the easiest game for the Warriors and they should win big.
  • Game 3: At Oregon State (L)- The Beavers are still rebuilding, but I like them vs Hawaii here.
  • Game 4: San Jose State (L)- This is a huge game for Hawaii, but I like the Spartans defense here.
  • Game 5: At New Mexico State (W)- NMSU is not going to be very good this season and the Warriors will win the first of two matchups vs the Aggies this season.
  • Game 6: Fresno State (L)- Another tough game for the Warriors, I trust Fresno more in this spot this season.
  • Game 7: At Nevada (L)- Nevada might be the MWC favorite with quarterback Carson Strong back to lead the team.
  • Game 8: New Mexico State (W)- The second matchup will end the same as the first.
  • Game 9: At Utah State (W)- Utah State is undergoing a rebuild and the Warriors offense will get it done here.
  • Game 10: San Diego State (L)- Brady Hoke and the Aztecs are going to have another solid team and will take down Hawaii on the road.
  • Game 11: At UNLV (W)- The Rebels are rebuilding and won’t be good enough to win this game.
  • Game 12: Colorado State (L)- The Rams will have a really good defense led by Scott Patchan this season and that will be the difference this season.
  • Game 13: At Wyoming (L)- The Cowboys always play solid defense and they’ll be a tough team to beat on the road.

Final Record: 5-8 (2-6 MWC)

This is not going to be a record that pleases Hawaii fans, but as good as their offense might be, they have question marks on defense and their offense are missing some of their top receivers from last year and they must become better throwing the football.

They will be a fun team to watch and be a threat to pull an upset, but a big breakthrough might still be a year or so away for Todd Graham.
