Kent State should once again have one of nation’s top offenses

Some of the numbers might not be able to be replicated due to Kent State playing in only four games last season, but the Golden Flashes were top 10 in scoring, rushing, passing, and total offense in 2020. Most of the core of that offense is back and most important of all, their star quarterback is going to lead the way once again.

Leading the way for Kent State on offense is quarterback Dustin Crum who is set to become a star this season and should be a name that all college football fans should get themselves familiar with. He threw for over 1,100 yards and 12 touchdowns last season and he also added over 200 yards on the ground.

Crum is the best quarterback in the MAC and that could make the difference in close games.

The running game is set to return their top three backs from last season and is adding a transfer to the group as well. Marquez Cooper, Bryan Bradford, and Xavier Williams all return and will spearhead one of the nation’s best running attacks and they will be joined by Virginia transfer PK Kier. This is a deep and explosive group of backs and will be some of the MAC’s best.

The Golden Flashes are going to be missing wide receiver Isaiah McKoy, who left for the NFL, but this is still a good receiving corps for the year. Dante Cephas and Ja’Shaun Poke are going to be the leaders on the outside, but keep an eye out for Syracuse transfer Nykeim Johnson to make some plays as well.

The offensive line might be the best in the conference and returns all five starters up front.

This should be one of the best — if not the best — offenses in the conference. As long as Crum stays healthy, good luck stopping Kent State in 2021.
