After an abbreviated 2020 season in which they only played three games, Miami (OH) Football hopes to pick up where they left off in 2019.

It was a strange 2020 season for Miami (OH) Football. The Redhawks came into the season as the defending MAC champs and were looking to defend their crown.

Quarterback Brett Gabbert went down in the first game and was replaced by AJ Mayer, who led the Redhawks to a victory over eventual MAC champion Ball State. Miami (OH) football suffered a defeat at the hands of Buffalo the next week and then after a canceled game vs Ohio, Miami (OH) played their last game vs Akron, in which Gabbert returned and led the team to victory.

The Redhawks enter the season with a possible competition between two quarterbacks who looked good in their action last season and they bring back a lot of experience, including some players from their 2019 title team that decided to sit last season.

That could be a big boost to a team that is going to need all the help that it can get. The schedule for Miami (OH) this season is a brutal one. In the first month alone, the Redhawks will have road games at Cincinnati, Army, and Minnesota and all of those games are going to be tough, so the they could be looking at a 1-3 start before they even get to October.

Chuck Martin has done well in his eight years with the program and this is a program that expects to contend for the MAC title each and every season. The MAC is going to be competitive at the top this season and the Redhawks have the talent to win, but they could also fall below .500 because of a very tough schedule.
