Schedule hurts any upside that Miami (OH) might have this season

Three of the Redhawks first four games are on the road and they play some of the best teams in the MAC away from home as well.  This team has talent, but a poor start could hurt their confidence and make things hard for them.

  • Game 1: At Cincinnati (L)- Cincinnati is going to be a fantastic team in 2021 and will win this game easily.
  • Game 2: At Minnesota (L)- The Golden Gophers are due for a bounceback season and will get a win here.
  • Game 3: Long Island (W)- The Redhawks will have their easiest game of the season right after their toughest two tests of the year.
  • Game 4: At Army (L)- This is shaping up to be one of Jeff Monken’s best teams at Army and I like them to win here.
  • Game 5: Central Michigan (L)- The MAC opener vs CMU is going to be one the Redhawks need, but I am pretty bullish on the Chippewas this season.
  • Game 6: At Eastern Michigan (L)- The Eagles are going to have a very good offense and they will win in a shootout.
  • Game 7: Akron (W)- Akron is still rebuilding and I like Miami to win here.
  • Game 8: At Ball State (L)- The Cardinals are among the favorites in the MAC and I think they win this one going away.
  • Game 9: At Ohio (L)- Another brutal road game will result in another loss for the Redhawks.
  • Game 10: Buffalo (L)- I think Buffalo will keep rolling without Lance Leipold and still be contenders in the MAC.
  • Game 11: Bowling Green (W)- Bowling Green is going to be bad this season and Miami should win big here.
  • Game 12: At Kent State (L)- I expect a close game, but Kent State has the better quarterback and that is the difference.

Final Record: 3-9, 2-6 MAC

I was surprised when this was the record I came up with for Miami (OH), but this schedule is brutal and there are not many tossup games for them. Miami is almost guaranteed to enter October 1-3 and then start MAC play against Central Michigan.

Road games against Buffalo and Ball State are going to be tough and it is hard to come up with a scenario that sees Miami (OH) getting back to a bowl game. This team is talented, but I am buying low on the Redhawks because of the schedule.
