New QB could be a gamechanger

Coming out of high school, Tyler Shough was a high-ranking four-star recruit. He was a top-10 pro-style passer and at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, he’ll be a great fit in Lubbock.

I don’t know about the whole No. 1 pick thing, but Shough defintely has pro-level talent. Last season, in seven games, he averaged 9.3 yards per pass and threw for a total of 1,559 yards to go along with 13 touchdown passes and six interceptions.

Shough twice went over 300 yards passing last season for the Ducks and also had three games with more than 50 yards on the ground. But Oregon had another quarterback in the mix and Shough appeared to want a new opportunity.

And Texas Tech actually isn’t a bad landing spot. The Red Raiders were 4-6 a year ago but return Eric Uzekanma, who was the leading receiver a year ago with 746 yards and averaged 16.4 per reception.

Leading rusher SaRodorick Thompson also returns for the Red Radiers, along with Myles Price, who had 28 receptions for 300 yards last season, as well as 12 carries for 124 yards.

Adding Shough to the mix with those playmakers and an offensive line which returns four of five starters, should make for a potent offense in 2021.
