Purdue football has some solid pieces on offense and defense. Is it enough to return to the postseason?

After a promising 2018 that saw the Boilermakers play in back-to-back bowl games for the first time since 2012-2013, Purdue football has gone 6-12 the last two seasons. The primary culprit has been injuries. The Boilermakers have not been able to keep their frontline starters on the field.

Purdue football has had injuries on both the offensive and defensive lines as well as the skill positions. The most glaring injury was to stand out receiver Rondale Moore. Though you never want to say that injuries wasted a players’ time, Purdue fans never got to see this offense with both Moore and fellow receiver David Bell on the field at the same time, nearly enough.

In addition to injuries, COVID-19 did the Boilermakers no favors last season. This season, year five under Jeff Brohm, the Boilermakers look to get on track after consecutive disappointing seasons. Purdue hopes that their starters can stay healthy and on the field.

Also, Brohm and his staff hope that their depth is better. The positive to a rash of injuries is younger players getting time on the field.

The Boilermakers have a lot of questions coming into this season. Can they find stability at quarterback? How talented is the defense?

Here is a closer look at the offense, defense, and Purdue football’s 2021 schedule.
