It was tough to choose between Oregon State and Washington State for this spot, but judging on how Utah handled the Cougars last season, I expect the same, if not worse, in 2021.

Utah beat Washington State by 17 last season as Nick Rolovich’s Cougars capped off a 1-3 first year. Washington State will have a better 2021 season, but I don’t think it’s going to be able to keep up with Utah which added some solid talent this offseason in the form of Baylor quarterback transfer Charlie Brewer, Oklahoma running back TJ Pledger, and LSU running back Chris Curry.

The Cougars could push for a bowl game, but this will be their second tough game in a row and they’re forced to travel to Salt Lake City for a second straight year.

Tough break for Washington State which should start the year 2-0.

Rolovich’s offense should be better than 75th in total yards and scoring like it was last year, but the defense needs drastic improvements from its 111th ranking in 2020. I don’t know if that’s going to happen in 2021.
