Jedd Fisch is going to have a long season in the desert. The first-year head coach is taking over one of the worst programs in the Power Five right now and in order to turn things around, he’ll need some time and patience from the fanbase and athletic department.

A turnaround simply won’t happen overnight.

The Wildcats had one of the worst seasons in college football in 2020, going 0-5 and watching Kevin Sumlin get canned after a 70-7 loss to rival Arizona State at home.

So it’s clear that hosting better teams in Tucson doesn’t make that much of a difference.

Washington should be able to handle the Wildcats in mid-October just like the rest of the conference will this season. They lost just one game by less than 10 points last season and I don’t see that changing much in 2021.

Arizona has five returning starters on the 86th-ranked total offense last season and seven starters back from the 116th-ranked defense.

This one is going to get ugly.
