Texas A&M football has quite a few players that will look to become stars during the 2021 season. Here are just a few names you should know.

Texas A&M football has had quite a few big names come out of the program in the last few years, but I truly think that this season will be a changing point for the Aggies and you will see guys really emerge as stars ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft. There are guys like DeMarvin Leal and Jalen Wydermeyer, who we know will be a star on the field for the Aggies. However, these three guys aren’t getting as much love in the national media. We start with a tight end that will be making his much-anticipated debut in an Aggie uniform- Baylor Cupp.

5. Baylor Cupp, TE

The Aggies possibly have the best tight end in the SEC, maybe even in the nation, in Jalen Wydermeyer. However, they also have a 6-6 tight end sitting on the bench ready to finally make his debut in Maroon and White after season-ending surgeries killed his last two seasons- an ankle surgery and shoulder surgery respectively. Look for Cupp- a once highly ranked recruit- to make a splash this season at a position that Jimbo Fisher prides himself on using well.

4. Devon Achane, RB

After exploding onto the scene in the 2020 Orange Bowl against North Carolina, in which he won the game MVP award filling in for an injured Isaiah Spiller, sophomore running back Devon Achane is the second player on my list of breakout candidates. He had a 99 yard game against Auburn before this, but the Orange Bowl- highlighted by his 76-yard touchdown run shown below- was really the start of this speedster’s road to Aggie-stardom.

Now, Spiller is fully healthy and ready to have another strong season. However, with what Achane showed in the Orange Bowl, there is no way that Jimbo Fisher can keep this track star off the field. Look for split carries between Spiller, Achane, and Ainias Smith- who is talented in his own right. Fisher will have to get creative with how he runs this offense to involve all three of these talented running backs, especially Achane who wasn’t previously as involved in the offense.
