Notre Dame Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
Notre Dame will finish the season with a tough road game against a rival in Stanford and, much like the other road battles, this one will come down to the wire.
The Irish will race out to a quick 14-0 lead as Tyler Buchner can seemingly do no wrong through the first quarter, but the offense will stall.
Stanford hasn’t really done much on either side of the ball in a couple of years and David Shaw desperately needs a signature win and, who knows, this might even be the game that gets the Cardinal into the 2021 postseason. A bowl berth with a Notre Dame win would be fantastic for his resume.
But after such a mediocre season defensively in 2020, I just don’t see the Cardinal beating the Irish here.
Despite coming back to tie things at 14-14 at halftime, the Cardinal won’t have an answer to a late fourth-quarter touchdown run by Kyren Williams.
Notre Dame ends the season on a high note and records yet another 10 regular-season wins. Will it be enough for a playoff berth? Probably not. A New Year’s Six bowl? Absolutely.
Final Score: Notre Dame 28, Stanford 21 (10-2)
