Texas A&M Football: Top 4 All-American candidates for Aggies in 2021
By Shelbie Warr
Texas A&M football has had quite a few talented players come through the program in the past years, but this year there are four players that really have All-American potential in 2021.
We start at the tight end position, with a guy who finished as a Mackey Award finalist and losing out to phenom Kyle Pitts, junior Jalen Wydermeyer.
4. Jalen Wydermyer, TE
Jimbo Fisher prides himself on the use of tight ends and we have seen that with Jace Sternberger his first year and now with Jalen Wydermyer.
Between his last two seasons, Wydermyer has almost 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those are big numbers for a tight end. He has also shown remarkable growth as a blocker, something that will help as he continues to grow in that area.
Some of his highlights can be seen below.

Wydermyer will be playing as TE1 but will have a TE2 in Baylor Cupp this year. However, I believe that even sharing the spotlight, he will come out as an All-American and as the Mackey Award winner this year.
All things considered, he may also be the first tight end off of the board in the 2022 NFL Draft as well. Those are lofty expectations, but this junior has shown time and time again that he can fulfill those and maybe even surpass them.
