Pressure is starting to mount on head coach Scott Frost to turn around Nebraska Football and get them back to prominence.
When Nebraska Football hired former quarterback Scott Frost away from UCF, it was thought to be one of the best hires in recent college football history.
The Mike Riley era in Lincoln went south quickly and fans of the Cornhusker football program were starting to get anxious and pining for the glory days. Frost seemed like a home run hire, but entering year four of the Frost era, there has not been much evident progress made and the pressure is starting to mount on Frost to show some semblance of a program heading in the right direction.
To be fair to Frost, there have been things that have been out of his control that has not helped him in turning this program around. When Frost was hired in December of 2017, it did not leave him much time to get his first recruiting class in order and it wound up being a washed class.
Recruiting challenges remain for Nebraska and the Huskers have not done a good job of selecting the right kids to be additions to the program. Now, some of that responsibility does lie with Frost, but it has been a challenge to get the right kind of kids the program needs to build around.
Nebraska is a place with high expectations and that has not helped the situation. This was going to have to be a long-term rebuild and the fans are going to have to be patient.
Now with that being said, there need to be some signs of life. When you have watched Nebraska football under Frost, it has lacked an identity and has yet to develop a QB, which was supposed to be a strength of Frost’s. This season is all about finding the right direction for the program and showing signs of progress.
