Winners of the week: Texas A&M, OU, Notre Dame

Not only did Texas A&M football land the top recruit on our list for the week, but the Aggies also made a move with the No. 3 prospect overall in 2022 — Walter Nolen.

Nolen visited College Station at the end of July and after not making his top five earlier this summer, Texas A&M football has surged into the top three and maybe even higher.

The Sooners added two commitments but both were in 2023. Still, Lincoln Riley has Oklahoma football doing impressive things on the recruiting trail and OU was clearly a big winner this week, along with Notre Dame who landed two of its top-five commitments in the No. 2 class right now.

Losers: Michigan, Ohio State

Michigan has had a rough go of things lately in the 2022 recruiting class. Last weekend, the Wolverines missed out on Jeremy Patton, and then this week, Dillon Bell who was reported to be a silent commit, pledged to Georgia.

Patton was also a silent commitment to Michigan according to Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider, making that two losses in a few days for the Wolverines, who also didn’t crack Walter Nolen’s top three after previously being viewed as a legitimate contender.

It also wasn’t a great week for Ohio State which had a five-star prospect de-commit from its 2022 class in Jaheim Singletary. It’s certainly not ideal, but it’s a one-week blip (no verbals).

Ohio State football still has an incredible 2022 class (4th overall) and even though Singletary is ranked 13th overall in 2022, the Buckeyes still have a pair of four-stars committed at corner and we all know they will rebound soon enough.
