The only five-star recruit to commit this week on the list is Makai Lemon, a 2023 recruit who pledged to Oklahoma football on Saturday.

Out of Los Alamitos, California, Lemon (6-foot, 180 pounds) is the 33rd overall prospect in the 247 sports composite rankings and gives the Sooners another dynamic playmaker on the offensive side of the ball, although he could play defense too.

Oklahoma football recently added Malachi Nelson, a five-star quarterback (No.3 overall) in the class of 2023 to its list of commitments and with Lemon, the rich get richer as the Sooners passing attack is going to be elite for years to come.

The commitment of Lemon also gives Oklahoma football the No. 1 college football recruiting class in 2023 right now with four ranked in the top 55 including tight end Luke Hasz who also pledged this week.

The reason that the Texas A&M football program was so against Texas joining the SEC has everything to do with recruiting.

It was a nice advantage for the Aggies to be able to say they were the only SEC program in Texas and now, that’s going away in the next few years.

But Texas A&M football still has Jimbo Fisher and there’s no reason to expect the Aggies to do anything but recruit top-10 classes. This week, the Aggies landed a major addition to the 2022 class with the commitment of Bryce Anderson.

Anderson was formerly committed to LSU yet the top-50 prospect (48th in 247 composite) from Beaumont, Texas zeroed in on the Aggies and went to A&M despite the full-court press from the Longhorns and a bunch of other major programs.

According to his 247 sports profile, Anderson is a freak of an athlete with a 10.48 in the 100-meter dash and also ran a 21.20 in the 200. He played quarterback and running back in high school. But in the secondary, at 6-foot,180 pounds, he also has the tools to be an early-round draft pick.

The fact that the Aggies beat out who they did for his recruitment also makes him the top commitment of the week.
