Arizona State Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
Not enough people are talking about Utah and just how good the Utes could be in 2021. Kyle Whittingham is consistently the most overlooked coach in the conference and despite a 3-2 record last season, the Utes are expected to do big things with Charlie Brewer transferring in from Baylor to start at quarterback. He’s a major upgrade over Jake Bentley.
The Utes also landed TJ Pledger from Oklahoma and Chris Curry from LSU to fight for carries in the backfield and eight starters return to the No. 2 defense in the Pac-12.
Arizona State won’t be able to overcome all of that on the road.
Final Score: Arizona State 24, Utah 33 (5-2, 2-2)
Washington State was one of the teams in the Pac-12 to hire a new coach in 2020 and it was because the legend of Mike Leach took his pirate ship across the country to Mississippi State.
Nick Rolovich’s first year was quiet as the Cougars finished just 1-3 with a lone victory over Oregon State to start the season. They were then beaten in their final three games by at least two touchdowns. I see Washington State being better this season, but not by that much.
Arizona State wins this one rather easily and the final score looks closer just because of a late touchdown by Jayden de Laura and the Cougars.
Final Score: Washington State 20, Arizona State 35 (6-2, 3-2)
