Luckily for Arizona State, defense wins championships

One of the biggest keys to the rise and success of the Arizona State football program is their NFL-caliber coaching staff. With a defense led by former NFL player Antonio Piece, the Sun Devils have done a complete 180 on the defensive side of the ball, leading the conference in both points allowed and turnovers in 2021.

From new schemes to in-game adjustments, the Sun Devils have quickly become the Pac-12’s best defense.

While there are no big names that jump off the page, this defense is built with plenty of talent that will soon be seen on Sundays.

Highlighting that defense is their front seven who might also be one of the nation’s best pass rushes as well. Getting to the quarterback and disrupting the passing game has become a common theme for Arizona State.

The hype around this defense is real.

They have not only talent but experience in all three levels of the defense, potentially making up what could be one of Arizona State’s best defenses of all-time. And in a conference like the Pac-12, having a defense goes a long way.
