Nov. 20. Statesboro, Ga.. 11. 2411. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Georgia Southern Eagles. player

Georgia Southern was a surprise contender in the Sun Belt last season, going 8-5 and losing four out of five games by eight points or less. The Eagles only lost one game by more than one score and they blew Louisiana Tech in the New Orleans Bowl, 38-3.

But will the Eagles be able to maintain that success under Chad Lunsford in 2021?

The Eagles will put up a fight for three quarters, but BYU will assert its dominance to end the game. The game will be tight, but the Cougars will pull away in the fourth quarter.

Final Score: BYU 49, Georgia Southern 31 (8-3)

Will Clay Helton’s job be on the line at this point in the season or will USC be contending for a spot in the College Football Playoff? That’s the real question.

I think Helton will be just fine as the Trojans could be a nine or 10-win team in 2021.

They return one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Kedon Slovis and a strong trio of KD Nixon, Bru McCoy, and Drake London to pass to. And the defense will be one of the best in the Pac-12 which will cause some problems to end the season for BYU.

The Trojans will hand the Cougars their fourth loss of the season, but an 8-4 record a year after Zach Wilson’s departure isn’t all that bad.

Final Score: BYU 27, USC 37 (8-4)
