Defense looks to be one of Sun Belt’s best yet again

Louisiana had one of the stingiest defenses in the Sun Belt and the country last season and it looks like they are going to be just as good, if not better this season.

The defensive line is going to be led by second-team All-Sun Belt selection Zi’Yon Hill, who was second on the team in sacks with four. Joining Hill up front will be Andre Jones at end and at nose guard Tayland Humphrey will be manning the middle. This is going to be one of the top defensive lines in the Sun Belt and all three starters are in for great seasons.

At linebacker, there is going to be a lot of talent back at the position. Last year’s leading tackler, Lorenzo McCaskill, is going to lead the unit, but guys like Ferrod Gardner and STAR Ja’len Johnson are guys that have a ton of potential as well. Chauncey Manac is another guy to watch at the linebacker position.

In the secondary, all-conference selection Brelan Trahan is back at safety after having four interceptions last season. Louisiana has one of the best corner tandems in the country with Mekhi Garner and Eric Garror, who each had three interceptions last season. Percy Butler is going to be the other starter in the secondary and he is a very talented defensive back.
