Preseason top-25 for the 2021-22 college football season
By Austin Lloyd
#22: Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns (10-2)
The Cajuns are coming off of an outstanding performance in 2020, and have consistently been a formidable power at the Group of 5 level.
As far as how their record will turn out this year, anything less than ten wins would be quite a disappointment. But luckily, playing in the Sun Belt Conference should help with most if not all of the hardship in that regard.
#21: Michigan Wolverines (8-4)
Michigan only saw two wins last season and, regardless of how little the schedules of Big Ten teams were, that is pathetic by a program of their traditional caliber.
It’s hard to imagine that those issues will just go away, but it is just as hard to imagine the Wolverines doing nothing with what they have. Because of this, I slapped them in as a decent squad, on the lower end of the spectrum.
Considering the seasons that Jim Harbaugh has had in his tenure with UM, an 8-win stretch is certainly plausible.
#20: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (10-2)
CCU is entering this Fall slate as one of the toughest Group of 5 forces in the land, and that should definitely be expected to hold true all throughout the remainder of this year.
It is fair to anticipate at least some fallback, though, as a good Coastal squad is still a Coastal squad. Due to such skepticism, I estimated their regular-season record would sit at a stout 10-2; darn good, but not quite last season.
