Utah Football: Utes are most underrated team in the PAC-12
After dealing with numerous issues in 2020, Utah Football looks to reclaim its spot at the top of the PAC-12 South division
Utah football had their first two games of the season canceled and they just could not get their groove going throughout the abbreviated season in the PAC-12.
This is a program that was one win away from going to the college football playoff in 2019 and they are hoping that last season is an anomaly and the Utes can get back to their brand of physical football and bully their way back to the conference championship game.
One of the things that went wrong with Utah football last season was their quarterback play. in 2019, Tyler Huntley might not have been the most electric quarterback, but he was efficient, accurate, and did not turn the ball over.
Last season, Utah was turning the offense over to South Carolina transfer QB Jake Bentley and he turned out to be the wrong quarterback for the job.
Bentley transferred to South Alabama in the offseason and Utah is welcoming in former Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer.
Brewer is taking advantage of the free year of eligibility given and he was a four-year starting QB for the Bears and led them to an appearance in the Big 12 championship game and a birth in the Sugar Bowl in 2019.
Brewer looked good in the spring game for the Utes, going 15 for 15 and looked sharp running the offense. If Brewer can be efficient and not turn the ball over, Utah has the kind of defense that can carry them to a birth in the conference championship game.
Head coach Kyle Whittingham always has this team ready to play and Utah is always one of the more well-coached teams in the conference. The Pac-12 South is going to be really competitive and it would be a mistake to dismiss the Utes’ chances in this division.
