Texas A&M football, Maryland, Stanford, Memphis, and Georgia Tech were among the big winners last week in college football recruiting.

College football recruiting is picking up and it’s not a coincidence with the season right around the corner.

Many recruits are fresh off visits and want to decide before they embark on their senior seasons of high school football.

The summer timeframe is always busy in terms of college football recruiting but with official visits opening up for games once again this fall, there will be plenty of movement and that could be among both uncommitted prospects and recruits that are committed but still taking visits.

This past week was loaded with commitments and the five that mattered most across the college football recruiting landscape.

We start our list with three-star quarterback Tevin Carter committing to the Memphis Tigers.

Quarterbacks are always important on the recruiting trail and Carter is ranked 576th overall in the 2022 recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and it was a massive win for the Tigers.

Georgia Tech was trending with crystal ball projections for Carter, who is out of Memphis, but the Tigers were able to win out and keep the hometown prospect at home which in part was due to NIL.

For Memphis, it bumped the Tigers 11 spots in the recruiting rankings and solidified the most important position with a 6-foot-2, 230-pound recruit with an offer listed that included: Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Michigan, Florida State, and Baylor, in addition to Georiga Tech — the school expected to land him prior to the late push by Memphis.

Memphis has had a strong history of quarterback play the past few years and Carter is good enough to keep up the tradition.
