Michigan Football: Jim Harbaugh once again on hot seat

Quarterback is the biggest question for Wolverines

Michigan football has been unable to find the offense to go along with some elite defenses in the past, but there is more urgency to figure the offense out now that the defense is having to through a rebuild.

At quarterback, Michigan is having a three-way competition for the starting job in 2021. Cade McNamara was the starting quarterback at the end of the season and while he flashed, he did not do enough to be the undisputed starter heading into the season.

Harbaugh brought in former Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman to bring a veteran presence in case either of the younger QB’s isn’t ready.

Wolverine fans are hoping that five-star freshman J.J McCarthy can be as good as advertised and show the type of promise that they have been waiting for from a young quarterback.

Michigan has some talented running backs to work with this season. Hassan Haskins showed flashes last season and finished with 375 yards and averaged over six yards per carry.

Haskins will be the main back, but there is hope that five-star freshman Donavan Edwards can help contribute immediately. Blake Corum is another guy to watch in the Michigan backfield.

At receiver, Michigan football will bring back some solid contributors. Senior Ronnie Bell is going to be the top guy, but guys like Cornelius Johnson and Mike Sainristil are solid, but not elite options.

Erick All is the likely starter at tight end. Michigan is going to be bringing back four starters on the offensive line and it is going to have to be much better this season.

If Michigan can find a quarterback, this could be a solid or very good offense.
