Big changes have come to Idaho as Boise State football saw Bryan Harsin leave for Auburn and the Broncos hired Oregon defensive coordinator Andy Avalos to replace him.

Boise State went 5-2 in a COVID-19 shortened season, losing to BYU and San Jose State in the Mountain West title game. The Broncos decided not to partake in a bowl game and started preparations for the 2021 season a little earlier.

The Broncos are now acquainted with Avalos who played linebacker in Boise back in the early 2000s and the program has to feel good having him back to lead it to the promised land.

In year one, he has one of the better quarterbacks in the Group of Five in Hank Bachmeier to go along with George Holani, Andrew Van Buren, and Oregon transfer Cyrus Habibi-Likio. The receiving corps is also relatively loaded, led by senior wide out Khalil Shakir.

The Broncos return eight starters to the No. 41 defense in the country and 37th-best passing defense so Avalos has some pieces to work with.

How will the Broncos fare in 2021?
