Boise State Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
Kalen DeBoer has a history of winning big at the Division II level at Sioux Falls, going 67-3 in five seasons with three NAIA championships. He was also 49-1 in conference play and he spent time as an assistant at the FBS level over the past decade at Eastern Michigan, Fresno State, and Indiana. And now he’s back at Fresno as the head coach and went 3-3 in year one.
After a 3-1 start to the 2020 season, Fresno state dropped its last two games but this may be the second-toughest (behind Oregon) game of DeBoer’s FBS head coaching career.
Fresno State will have a tough time against the Broncos as it’ll be an eye-opener in conference play to start the month of November.
Final Score: Boise State 30, Fresno State 21 (6-3, 5-0)
I think Wyoming will be another team that could surprise in the Mountain West this season, even after going just 2-4 a year ago. If you look at the losses, none of them were blowouts and one was an overtime defeat at Nevada, another was a one-point loss at New Mexico, and the last was an eight-point loss to Boise State in the finale.
Wyoming has some solid pieces back, including Xazavian Valladay who could push for 1,000 yards this season. As long as the Cowboys figure out the quarterback situation and the defense remains stingy, they should be an 8-9 win team.
This won’t be one of those wins, however.
Final Score: Wyoming 17, Boise State 27 (7-3, 6-0)
