Baylor Football: Game-by-game predictions for 2021 season
I think Chris Klieman is going to be a solid head coach in Manhattan, but coming off a 4-6 season, it’s clear he has his work cut out for him.
The Wildcats went 8-5 in their first season under Klieman and things were looking up, but a COVID-19-shortened season seemed to be their kryptonite as they struggled mightily. They finished 106th in offensive yards per game and 97th in total defense. Basically, the 2020 season was a disaster.
I think they’ll be back and better in 2021, but it’ll still be an up-and-down year. This game will be more of an up as it might send the Wildcats to a bowl game. They’ll barely hold on here against Baylor.
Final Score: Baylor 24, Kansas State 28 (5-6, 2-6)
Sitting at 5-6 with one final game remaining against in-state foe Texas Tech in Waco, Baylor knows it needs a victory in the finale to make a bowl game. It’ll do just that.
Texas Tech is just not in a good place right now and Matt Wells’ clock might be ticking. The Red Raiders are just 8-14 in two seasons under Wells and they just lost their starting quarterback to the transfer portal as Alan Bowman took off for Michigan.
I don’t see the Red Raiders putting up much of a fight in this one as Wells’ ticket to coaching free agency might be punched at this point with another bowl-less campaign.
Final Score: Texas Tech 17, Baylor 35 (6-6, 3-6)
