How will Oklahoma football fare in 2021?

Oklahoma has been tripped up in the past couple of years by either Kansas State or some other team that was a big underdog. The Sooners need to have focus for 12 games and avoid any upsets.

  • Game 1: at Tulane (W) — This is a cool game for Tulane to host, but the result will be pretty forgettable.
  • Game 2: Western Carolina (W) — The Sooners can name their score here and it will be about getting young players more experience in this game.
  • Game 3: Nebraska (W) — This will be a fun game for nostalgia’s sake, but I think the Sooners will probably blow out Nebraska.
  • Game 4: West Virginia (W) — These two teams did not play last season and WVU has a tough defense, but it won’t be able to keep up with Oklahoma.
  • Game 5: at Kansas State (W) — The Wildcats have had the Sooners’ number in two straight meetings, but something tells me that comes to an end this season.
  • Game 6: vs. Texas (W) — One of the marquee rivalry games in the country will have its first installment with Steve Sarkisian at Texas. Round one goes to Lincoln Riley.
  • Game 7: TCU (W) — I think the Horned Frogs are the most underrated team in the conference and Oklahoma needs to be very careful in this game.
  • Game 8: at Kansas (W) — Oklahoma might score 100 points in this game.
  • Game 9: Texas Tech (W) — The Red Raiders are a bit of a mystery this season, but even if they surprise, they can’t hang with Oklahoma.
  • Game 10: at Baylor (W) — Baylor hung around with Oklahoma last season, but don’t expect that to be the case in 2021.
  • Game 11: Iowa State (W) — The biggest game of the Sooners’ season will be in Norman and that will be the difference against a very good Iowa State team.
  • Game 12: at Oklahoma State (W) — Oklahoma owns this rivalry versus the Cowboys and that is not changing in 2021.

Final Record: 12-0, 9-0 Big 12

It is hard to go undefeated, but the Sooners are just that good. It is hard to envision any Big 12 team getting enough stops against Oklahoma and if the defense improves as it should, the Sooners might be double-digit favorites in every game but the Iowa State contest. This is a sure-fire playoff team that can win the national championship.
