2. King won over the locker room

According to reports, Haynes King mastered the playbook, had a big fall camp, and, most importantly, he won over the locker room.

If a quarterback is named the starter but doesn’t have the respect of his teammates, it can turn into a nightmare for a head coach. Jimbo Fisher was pleased with the progress King made on and off the field and clearly didn’t hesitate when naming him a starter a little less than two weeks before the team’s first game.

Winning over teammates is as important as anything and we’ve seen locker rooms turn on quarterbacks before and when that happens, it’s counterproductive. Players don’t want to play for the quarterback and don’t give full effort.

That’s not the case with King despite him being just a second-year player.
