1. This was the perfect confidence booster before LSU

Week 0 was a cakewalk for UCLA and that’s a good sign seeing as Week 1 won’t be quite as favorable of a matchup.

Hawaii didn’t stand much of a chance against the Bruins as they dominated every facet of the game from the opening kickoff until the final whistle and that just goes to show that they don’t have any glaring weaknesses that sprouted against a weak team. That’s usually a comforting sign for a coaching staff heading into a big battle and Chip Kelly had to like what he saw.

Sure, Dorian Thompson-Robinson could have been more accurate and receivers and tight ends could have caught more passes, but when the run game was working like it did, it didn’t hurt to just stick with a one-dimensional look.

On top of that, the defense really stepped up and held a potent Hawaii attack in check. Chevan Cordeiro finished with just 220 yards and a touchdown with two picks on 25-of-47 completions and a QBR of just over 10. And the run defense allowed just 1.2 yards per attempt.

Overall, this was the perfect confidence booster for the Bruins heading into LSU week.
