Jimbo Fisher’s seat was warming up at the beginning of the 2020 season after Texas A&M football lost to Alabama by four touchdowns. It looked like the Aggies would never get over the hump under Fisher.

The Aggies were 1-1 coming off that demoralizing loss to Alabama and the only win being an ugly 17-12 victory over a bad Vanderbilt team. Things weren’t looking good.

And everything started to click.

Kellen Mond gained confidence and had his best season to date, finishing with 2,282 yards passing while being second on the team in rushing with 23 total touchdowns. He did throw 19 touchdown passes with only three interceptions so his decision making and accuracy was immensely better than it had been.

The Aggies reeled off seven straight SEC wins after that Alabama loss, going from 1-1 to 8-1 in the blink of an eye. The defense was stingy and Isaiah Spiller broke out as one of the best running backs in the country. They earned an Orange Bowl bid and beat a red-hot North Carolina team by two touchdowns.

With Mond gone, things may seem bleak, but Haynes King is a more than capable replacement who has been likened to a young Johnny Manziel. Plus, the defense will be elite.

What are the best, worst, and most likely scenarios for the Aggies in 2021?
