Best-case scenario

The best-case scenario for Texas A&M is a good one and it’s really not out of the realm of possibility. The Aggies may be thinking playoff this season and if everything goes right, I think that’s what could happen for this team.

Haynes King would have to exceed expectations early on and they’re already fairly lofty. He’ll need to be one of the best young quarterbacks in the nation.

The defense would need to replicate what it did in 2020 when it was ranked No. 9 in the nation and No. 1 in the SEC.

To start, the Aggies would begin the season 5-0 before hosting Alabama. I am a firm believer that the Crimson Tide are going to run the table this season and I think that this may be the one game that’s almost untouchable on the schedule. Sure, an upset could happen, but I don’t think it will.

After that tough loss at home, the Aggies will reel off six straight victories to finish the regular season red-hot for a second straight season with an 11-1 record. Will the playoff committee come a-calling?

Best case: 11-1, 7-1 SEC
