Texas A&M Football: Best, worst, and most likely scenarios for 2021
Most likely scenario
Haynes King winning the starting quarterback job was a good victory for the Aggies because he raises the ceiling of this offense. Combine him with a talented receiving corps, an improving defense, and one of the best running backs in the country and you have an SEC contender.
Let’s take a look at how Texas A&M will likely fare during the 2021 season.
Texas A&M will open with a strong win over Kent State and a double-digit win over Colorado because, well, I see the Buffaloes taking a step back this season. The Aggies will beat New Mexico and then sneak by rival Arkansas at AT&T Stadium by a touchdown to improve to 4-0.
Mississippi State is next up on the schedule and the Aggies will beat the Bulldogs to improve to 5-0 before suffering their first loss of the season to Alabama. It’ll be a good game, but the Crimson Tide are just that good. Missouri will put up a fight in the next game as Texas A&M will sweat out this win on the road before beating South Carolina to improve to 7-1.
Texas A&M will head home to take on Auburn and I don’t think the Tigers will put up much of a fight this season. This will be a down year for the Tigers. A slip-up comes the following week in Oxford against an explosive offense in Ole Miss.
Prairie View A&M won’t be much of a test in Week 12 as the Aggies will beat the breaks off the Panthers before LSU pulls off a big win over Texas A&M to end the year.
Not quite a playoff season, but a New Year’s Six bowl is very possible.
Most likely: 9-3, 5-3 SEC
