Boise State Football: 3 reasons Broncos will beat UCF in Week 1
The 2021 season started this past weekend with a slight set of games. The real action, however, will start this Thursday and continue through Labor Day on Monday. On Thursday night, Boise State football will travel across the country for a game between two of the nation’s premier Group of Five teams.
UCF has made a lot of noise lately in college football for its self-proclaimed national championship and being a bit of a loud team. The Golden Knights have won a lot of games and feel that they do not get the respect that they deserve nationally and on Thursday, they will face the original program that set the standard for Group of Five teams for years to come.
Boise State became famous in the early 2000s for being able to play big-time programs anywhere they wanted and winning against those programs. From the stunning upset over Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl to beating Virginia Tech and Georgia in season-opening games in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
While Boise State might not be at the height that they once were, it’s still a formidable opponent for any team on any given Saturday.
The winner of this game might be able to say they pose the biggest challenge to Cincinnati for the top team in the Group of Five. The Bearcats are the clear top team, but the winner here can leave the game with a lot of confidence that they will be able to make a push for a spot in the New Year’s Six bowl.
UCF is the favored team on Thursday night, but I think that the Broncos have a good chance at pulling the upset. Here are the three reasons why Boise State will beat UCF on Thursday night.
