The 2021 season has begun. With games during Week 0 last Saturday, the season officially kicked off, but the good stuff starts on Thursday night when we’ll see Ohio State travel to Minnesota, Boise go across the country to play UCF, and then the action continues on Friday.

The marquee game on Friday will be in Blacksburg, Va., when the Virginia Tech Hokies welcome a top 10 ranked North Carolina football team to Lane Stadium.

Conference games to start the season can put added pressure on the loser. North Carolina comes in as the favorite in the Coastal Division in the ACC and they have a Heisman favorite at the quarterback position. This is the most talented North Carolina team in quite some time and some think they are the main challenger to Clemson for the ACC title.

This is a big season for Virginia Tech and head coach Justin Fuente. Fuente has largely been disappointing in his time at Virginia Tech and some thought that he could have been out of a job after last season. Fuente is back, but there is a lot of noise surrounding the program and he needs to get this season off to a good start. A loss on Friday night might mean a long season for the Hokies.

As for the Tar Heels, all eyes will be on Howell and the offense. North Carolina is replacing two stud running backs in Michael Carter and Javonte Williams and two stud wide receivers in Dazz Newsome and Dyami Brown. How the Tar Heels can replace this production is the key storyline for the season and that will be the most-watched aspect of either side on Friday night.

Here are three bold predictions for North Carolina football in its game on Friday against Virginia Tech.
