By Dante Pryor
This weekend, ACC football begins its season. We are back at headquarters between Tobacco Road and the future site of David Cutcliffe’s statue. We are here with the ‘Ol Ball Coach and enough mint juleps to knock out a rhino.
The question everyone has is, “Can anyone topple Clemson this fall?” The short answer is no. However, the Tigers lost three of the best players in school history, Trevor Lawrence, Travis Etienne and Jackson Carman are all off to the NFL.
Though those are small chinks, there is an element of vulnerability in Death Valley East. That is not to say that any team in the ACC can take advantage of Clemson losing two generational talents and the best offensive lineman Clemson had recruited to that point.
That said, Clemson is likely headed to a seventh ACC title. However, that does not mean there are not some interesting storylines this season in the ACC.
Is Duke in a down period, or is it time for David Cutcliffe to move on down the road? How many wins is progress for Geoff Collins and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets? Will North Carolina take a step back after losing its four best skill players last season?
How good can Miami be this season? Sit back and enjoy what should be a fun season in the ACC. In honor of the Textile Bowl or the rivalry that ain’t really a rivalry, here are the ACC football preseason power rankings.
