Alabama Football: 3 Reasons Crimson Tide will beat Miami
1. Alabama’s Secondary vs Miami’s Receivers
If you watched any Miami football games last fall, you saw that both Clemson and North Carolina put out the blueprint for slowing this high-powered attack down. Both teams just played man on the outside and tried to force Miami’s receivers to beat them on the outside. In both games, Miami’s offense was completely shut down. I think Alabama is going to follow a similar blueprint.
While the Crimson Tide lose a top-10 pick in the secondary with the departure of Patrick Surtain Jr, this is still one of the best secondaries in college football. Josh Jobe is ready to assume the position as Alabama’s top corner and Jalyn Armour-Davis is going to start opposite of Jobe. Jordan Battle is back at safety and is also going to be one of the leaders of the defense.
Alabama has a more talented secondary than either Clemson or North Carolina had last year. Miami brought in Oklahoma transfer Charleston Rambo to bolster the receivers and hope some young guys can step up and give the Hurricanes a legitimate outside threat.
If Miami’s receiver can’t win one-on-one matchups against the Crimson Tide secondary, it is going to be a long night for the Hurricanes.
