There are a lot of great matchups on the first full Saturday of college football. Alabama is taking on Miami, Penn State visits Wisconsin, and LSU takes their first trip to UCLA to take on the Bruins. However, none of those games compare to the epic showdown that awaits on Saturday night.

Georgia football and Clemson face-off in what has become one of the most anticipated season-opening games in recent memory.

This is a top-five matchup between two teams that are thought to be national championship contenders and this is their first time playing each other since 2014. Whoever wins this game is going to have the inside track to a playoff spot and the loser is going to have to be perfect the rest of the way.

Georgia comes into the game a little bit banged up in some areas, especially at the skill positions. Star wide receiver George Pickens tore his ACL in the spring, wide receiver/tight end Arik Gilbert is away for personal reasons, and tight end Darnell Washington has a foot injury and is not going to play on Saturday for the Bulldogs. Defensive back Tykee Smith is also unlikely to play as well and he was expected to be a big addition to the Georgia defense.

Clemson is going to have some new faces on their team heading into this game. Gone is Trevor Lawrence at quarterback and in is DJ Uiagalelei. He has the experience and is going to be a handful for Georgia’s defense. The Tigers are going to have to find a running back to replace Travis Etienne and make sure their offensive line is able to perform better than when we last saw them versus Ohio State.

This is going to be a heavyweight fight that will come down to the wire and could go either way. Here are the three reasons that I think Georgia football will beat Clemson on Saturday night.
