Are playoff hopes dashed?

At this point, it’s really hard to see North Carolina football being strong enough to put together a playoff resume after the way it was pushed around but it was just one game.

The one thing that benefits North Carolina football is that it gets to play Notre Dame, as well as Miami and there is also the potential matchup with Clemson in the ACC title game, but still, those aren’t a lot of elite wins.

It would help tremendously if Clemson beat Georgia and ran the table. If the Tigers were unbeaten and North Carolina football won out and beat Clemson, then it would have a case to make.

But a lot of things would need to go right and first things first, the Tar Heels need to get a few things figured out before they start thinking about the College Football Playoff again.

While there aren’t a ton of top-25 matchups on the schedule, at least right now, it’s not all that easy. Georgia State and Wofford are the only non-conference games outside of Notre Dame, so a resurgence in the polls is possible, but it will take a while.

And the margin for error is now zero.
