The first full week of college football didn’t stop the number of upsets taking place across the country as many stadiums were full for the first time in over a year.

There were some upsets that did not make this list such as UConn losing to Holy Cross, an FCS opponent from the Patriot League. The Huskies did lose at home and by 10 points but UConn did not play one game during the 2020 season and being an independent in football, is considered by many as the worst FBS team in 2021.

Let’s take a look at the biggest upsets of week one in college football.

10. UC Davis defeats Tulsa

Tulsa playing at home against FCS opponent UC Davis of the Big Sky was one of the big upsets of Week 1. The Aggies were 3-2 during their shortened 2020 season and their last time defeating an FBS opponent prior to their two-point victory over the Golden Hurricane came in 2018 when they defeated San Jose State on the road, 44-38.

UC Davis is a respectable FCS program but defeating Tulsa from the AAC is still an upset and was unexpected as the Golden Hurricane were heavy favorites to win.

9. Eastern Washington beats UNLV

Not a shocking upset as Eastern Washington is a well-respected FCS school from the Big Sky like UC Davis. Also, the Eagles went 5-2 last season and had momentum going into this year. However, UNLV, from the Mountain West playing at home, was the favorite to win this game and that’s the reason that this was one of the top 10 upsets from Week 1.

The game itself was a very exciting game as it went to double overtime with Eastern Washington winning in thrilling fashion and give credit to the Eagles for their well-earned victory.

This was quite the thriller.
